La Revista Cubana de Estomatología fue fundada en el año 1964, dirigida a profesionales, y técnicos en el campo de la estomatología, administración de salud, y especialidades afines. Publica artículos en español, inglés y portugués en formato HTML, PDF y XML y cuenta con una Creative Commons del tipo Atribución-No Comercial 4.0 Internacional (CC BY-NC 4.0). No se cobran cargos por ninguno de los procesos editoriales o publicación de los artículos que recibimos.    Misión: Publicar artículos científicos que reporten al desarrollo de las ciencias estomatológicas en beneficio de la salud de la población.    Visión: Convertirse en una revista de referencia en el campo de las ciencias estomatológicas. A descriptive, longitudinal, prospective and synthetic study was carried out in a five-year period (1981-1985), during which surgical treatment was provided for 520 patients with a zygomatic fracture diagnosis in the Maxillofacial Surgery services of the Saturnino Lora Surgical and Clinical Hospital in Santiago de Cuba. It was shown that sequelae occurred in 9.42% of the patients with this affection, that the aesthetic, ofthalmological, and neurological complications were the most frequent, and that the reconstructive procedure with autogenous materials was the most universal and effective for their treatment. In this connection, conclusions were drawn.

The case of a young man aged 18 years, attending to the Outpatient Service, Clinical and Surgical Teaching Hospital, Santa Clara, because of pathologic fracture in the anterior region of the jaw and history of hospitalization by pain and inflammation of mandibular gingiva with mobility of anterior teeth causing multiple extractions. The physical examination showed facial asymmetry by loss of normal chin configuration. Within investigations performed we had to rest on clinics, radiographical studies and anatomopathologic results. We think that the publication of this paper helps to enrich the scanty literature on this rare disease, which at international level is the tenth case involving the jaw and first in our country.
