Science as Culture explores how science shapes our cultural values. It defines what is considered natural and rational, influencing our understanding of facts and artifacts, as well as the processes and products we design. Expertise in fields such as science, technology, and medicine exercises power in our daily lives. Science mediates our cultural experience, increasingly defining what it means to be human, particularly through genetics, medicine, and information technology. These values are embodied in concepts, techniques, research priorities, gadgets, and advertising. Many films, artworks, and novels express public concerns about these developments. In a society where icons of progress are drawn from science, technology, and medicine, they are often either celebrated or demonized. Fears about scientific progress are labeled as 'unnatural,' while critics are branded as 'irrational.' Public concerns are frequently dismissed by ostensibly value-neutral experts and positivist rhetoric. Yet, the culture of science is as open to study as any other culture. Cultural studies analyze the role of expertise throughout society, and many journals address the history, philosophy, and social studies of science, its popularization, and public understanding.

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.
